Unicornicopia

Musician/Playwright/Performance Artist Natalie Weiss has been performing as Unicornicopia since 2001. This experimental pop project has manifested itself as a rock band, a puppet musical and now as a one woman emotional sound sculpture. Weilding an accordion, keyboards, Roland Chorus Echo, samplers and electronics, Weiss has found a foggy home for her shimmering meoldy. Unicornicopia has recorded with prominent producers such as Joe McGinty of the Pyschedilc Furs, Ben Bromely of Fischerspooner, Travis Stewart of Machinedrum and Matthew Kamm of Dodger.

Drawing from the sunny grandiosity of her hometown Orlando, the bruises/blessings incurred growing up Presbyterian, and the crippling melancholy of a lifetime of failed relationships, Unicornicopia pairs its noise with melody and its irony with honesty. Weiss' goal with Unicornicopia is to push the limmits of the traiditonal pop structure by including elements borrowed from the noise scene, musical theatre, and most recently the Christian church. To that effect, Weiss considers her Unicornicopia performances to be both art instillation and theatre - an opportunity recraft and re-endow bedrock pop sentiment.
